However, I don't think asking someone to do something (i.e., “I *ask* OSI's
Board to …”) is authoritarian, and I must object to the false
characterization of my email as “authoritarian”.

My understanding of this list is so that community participants can make
their recommendations and communicate their views to the OSI Board — who is
the only authority who makes final decisions about license approval, and
their decisions cannot be appealed by anyone and as such are quite permanent.
The stakes are thus quite high in this process for the FOSS community.
