I don't think this committee has the necessary guidance to come to one
opinion about patent waviers on open source licenses. I suggest that
we ask the board to constitute a new committee which will formulate an
OSI patent wavier policy. (I think we're ALL agreed that patents
which are not freely licensed -- at least for open source software --
are not compatible with open source software, right?)
In fact, I think that's the right thing to do, so I'm going to ask
Karl to bring that suggestion to the board. Anybody who disagrees
should make their own proposition to Karl. I'd appreciate a CC on that
otherwise-private email.
