I agree that discussions about whether the GPL is open source are
perfectly reasonable here.

However, recently, there have been discussions here as to whether
using the GPL rather than another open source license is a good idea.
That particular fight has been going on with great verbosity for 15
years, and I don't want to see it infect yet another mailing list,
particularly since I don't see that it has anything to do with the
topic of this list, which is whether particular licenses are open
source.
