Gil brings up social or ethical motivations for licensing. I can probably
use these on a slide.

You can also look at it from a _business purpose perspective_.

if you are making something that you want everyone to use, you would use a
gift style license. The BSD or Apache, for example. These are useful for a
reference implementation of a standard, or a library function which you
want everyone to copy and do your way.

If you want to restrict your competitor from running away with a project,
or if you want the software multiplier of having required contribution
rather than just  encouraged contribution, you could go with GPL or AGPL.

The difference from Gil's perspective is that these choices could be made
by the same party, coming from the same ethical stance.
