If you haven't already, diff versions 1.0 and 1.1 of the
Developer Certificate of Origin:

https://developercertificate.org/

It's my understanding national legislation in the UK
motivated that change, and for a particular kernel
developer, long before GDPR.  But it's in the same vein, and
good history to know.
