Dear Pam,

I've just checked the paragraph. You are totally right; the parenthetical is misleading. We wanted to express that modifications of the software should be distribute in Source or Object form.

I will change the sentence in the following way:
"You may reproduce and distribute copies of the Subject Matter of the License or Derivative Works on any medium, with or without modifications (with regard to software components: in Source or Object form), provided that You comply with the following rules"

I hope that it is clearer now.

Regards
Andreas

There is one part that troubles me. You have defined the Subject Matter of the License very broadly, "components protected under copyright, design and/or patent law." The license therefore can be applied, for example, to hardware. That appears to be intentional.

In section 4 you say "You may reproduce and distribute copies of the Subject Matter of the License or Derivative Works on any medium, with or without modifications (with regard to software components)...." I'm not sure why the parenthetical is there. It can be interpreted to mean that one can reproduce and distribute software components but one cannot reproduce and distribute non-software components.

What were you trying to clarify with the parenthetical? Can it be stated in a way that prevents an interpretation that non-software components cannot be reproduced and distributed?
