No allegation made or intended. I've no reason to believe
OSI is currently playing out-of-bounds, or harbor any hope
whatsoever of seeing it called out of bounds.
"Mission" versus "purpose" and tax status is a classic
attorney-client conversation for (c)(3) entities. One I'm
used to having with those in my charge. Especially those
working areas adjacent to the (c)(3)/(c)(6) morass.
Especially when transparency, policy positions, and personal
discretion come up.
I don't want to see OSI anywhere near that kind of issue.
But I am not the attorney engaged and accountable to OSI for
advising how to steer clear of it. So I direct to my
colleagues who are.
The usual lawyerly prudence. Nothing more.
