So, to nail it down, possibly:

"""
TIMED GRANT TO MIT LICENSE

Copyright (c) 2017, John Dupuy

For all works and assets in this repository, all rights reserved except
as granted.

On July 4, 2023, the MIT open source license is fully granted on the
works and assets.

MIT license reference: https://opensource.org/licenses/MIT
"""

Is this the best way to word it? Does the URL work, or should I insert
the MIT license itself? I'm not a lawyer, so I have no idea if URLs are
frowned upon :).

That is nice and simple and clean. I'll perhaps call it "Timed-MIT" when
corresponding with others.
