Let me make a little nonsensical remark here: That's a restriction not to make 
restrictions.

Distributing binaries without giving access to the source is a  restriction of 
the four core freedoms the GPL is defending. 

Don't do the same slip as I did in my nonsensical remark above. 

Freedom of redistribution doesn't mean you are free to take it away.
