"wtfpl user" appears to be nobody in particular -- in quite a number of
ways. Thank you for so wonderfully illustrating that problem.

And thank you for saving poor Sam from having to take a reputation hit
from your conduct.

Why, yes, Dan did take a rather dumb personal shot at me, circa 1999, in
the process of his misrepresenting, primarily for his faithful's
benefit, my essay about why I personally preferred not to administer his
software, which I was doing for a living at the time and had simply
gotten tired of answering questions about the reasons for my view.
(You'll note that he makes an equally questionable attempt, a bit
further down, to take the tactic a step further and portray my essays as
dishonest -- which I was then at some pains to calmly debunk at the
bottom of my own essays page.)

But I do respect Dan for quite a number of reasons. One is his
generosity with his software. Another is the quality and care of his
coding, despite its peculiarities. Another is his truly heroic role in
his lawsuit for crypto rights against the USA Department of Justice.
And the fourth is that he stands behind everything he says and does by
name, and doesn't seek to hide sleazy behaviour behind Internet
pseudonyms and throwaway webmail accounts.

The latter is something we shouldn't _need_ to be thankful for, but then
people like... well... you come along. Whoever the hell you are.

ObOnTopic: Concerning public domain dedications, which certainly _may_
either have the intended effect or at least a judicially applied one of
similar nature, but may have different effects depending on the
jurisdiction (and reportedly none in the UK, at all), I have this
compendium:

http://linuxmafia.com/faq/Licensing_and_Law/public-domain.html

It includes comments on Dan's article where he had essentially dismissed
Larry Rosen's critique in Dan-standard non-sequitur fashion, direct link here:
