Might not know if it only happened once.  But companies usually like
to make some noise about patent matters, in case somebody has prior
art.  If you've created an invention prior to someone else, ya kinda
get a little grumpy if someone comes along later and tries to steal it
from the public domain.  I know I did...

But why does this whole process resemble the Mafia's protection racket?
