That's like saying he won't have a cryptographer look at his new
encryption function, preferring community review. It's basically the
legal version of being anti-vax because you read a lot of blogs that
agree with each other.
If the license ever needs to be enforced, it will be in front of a
judge, and there will be opposing counsel. If you didn't have somebody
who knows what this domain's version of a "fool's mate" looks like plug
the obvious holes...
Domain expertise exists, _especially_ in highly formalized settings
where you can lose a fencing match because you didn't understand "right
of way".
