If you make a program that's derivative of the GPL work, it has to be 
licensed as a whole under the GPL.  Since the CDDL+GPL combo would be 
derivative of the GPL work, the whole thing would have to be licensed 
under the GPL, which you can't do (because of the incompatiblity). 
Distributing only source doesn't get around this problem.
