[License-review] For Approval: OpenMDW License Agreement, versions 1.1 (OpenMDW-1.1)

Howdy folks,

I was first alerted to this particular license and discussion on the 
Fediverse a couple weeks ago:

I've done a breadth-first search of the archives ("depth-1" replies to 
the original email [which could be considered "depth-0", so-to-speak]) 
prior to commenting myself (and have, for the time-being, subscribed to 
the list). The closest match to my own concerns was from John Colagioia 
on Saturday August 29 14:34:09 UTC 2026. Colagioia writes:

 >A corollary to the lack of human input, models have no reasonable 
"source code" to open, removing even the possibility of a license 
offering Freedoms 1 and 3 in any reasonable sense.

I disagree slightly, in that I do think there is a sort-of "source code" 
to open. At minimum, the complete corresponding source code for a model 
would necessarily require its training data. And, given that the license 
text does not require the distribution of the training data, it seems 
like "Open Model, Data, and Weights" is an odd name for such a license.

More generally, I think my commentary on the Fediverse applies not only 
to this license, but to any license concerning AI models:

 >IMHO, a model without the underlying training data for reproducing it 
is not, in any sense, Free or Open. At that point, you might as well 
argue that distributing software binaries without the complete 
corresponding source code is Free and Open because, in principle, you 
can reverse engineer the binary.

The OSI should not approve this license or any other license with 
similar flaws.
