Hmmmm. I don't think it affects a lot of people but the 8.3 file system thing is a fair point and if people feel strongly about it we could rename it to LARGER_W.TXT or something.
The trick here is that we want people to know what to look for in advance, and if we allow the file name to be changed, it will complicate looking for things (both automated and manual search) and make it more error prone as people and tools may miss the larger works files - I think the best way to address the markdown issue is to have duplicate larger works files in both naming schemes (and have those refer to each other).
