I see that my still-unnamed license

appears to be off the table -- until I name it?

If that's the case, I'm actually fine with that for now. I've been  
too busy to try to work out things like whether I might just use a  
MIT or BSD template license and put the preaching and the stuff about  
the public domain origins in a comment below (external to) the  
license in the LICENSE.txt file.

Since I suppose you might need a name to make it easier to track  
taking it off the table, even, I'll name it "the BIF-C license  
acknowledging public domain origins, revision 0". Do I need to do  
something specific to make the name official?
