There are a bunch of licenses which are more-or-less reuseless to the
community because they name certain parties in the license. Arguably
it was a mistake to approve them as such. The Sleepycat license is
one of them. Equally arguably, it would be a mistake to approve any
more such. Yours would be one of them. Please resubmit it in a form
which benefits the rest of the community by allowing reuse.
The Sleepycat license is unnecessarily complicated, with its three
licensing parties and nearly identical (or ARE they identical, hmmm?)
terms. If we were going to approve it again, we would ask them to
submit it in a simpler form that doesn't duplicate identical licensing
terms. Kinda more like yours, only with term #3 optional. Then the
Sleepycat license would devolve into three invocations of the BBCBOSL,
one for Sleepycat Software, one for Berkeley, and one for Harvard, the
latter two with term #3 not chosen.
Maybe you could rename it to take out the "OS" part? Then it would be
BBCBL. Less of a mouthful, but then ahhh, you are German, aren't you? :)
