Yuko,

If some information is lost in the conversion from the "native file" to 
a directly usable font file, the native file would be the preferred medium.

Perhaps this information might be comments, or some sort of 
supplementary information used by the artist to create the font but not 
necessary in the font itself. If this information has /ever /existed, 
the form in which it existed is the preferred form.

The supplementary information would be alignment lines and compass 
circles in romanji but I have no idea if there is an equivalent for 
kanji. The supplementary information would potentially be useful as more 
kokuji enter the language and are added to the font.
