question before attempting an update on AFL

Do you really need to put this in the license?  Shouldn't basic
scholarly integrity cover that?  Anyone writing a paper about research
performed using your software would have to mention it in the method
section of their article, and, unless your software has become a
de-facto standard tool in that particular field of research, provide a
relevant citation.
