I think that Brian is arguing that Java hasn't been a success.  "Write
Once, Run Everywhere" is still not the case.  If you disbelieve me,
just try running some Java code that uses a serial port.

And if UOML is trying to use the same methods, nothing has changed to
make them more likely to be successful.
