Yochai Benkler's "Wealth of Networks" that describes how economic value is created via network effect, and how both the open source ecosystem and other social-value systems emerged once the limitation (high transaction costs, copyright restrictions, lack of trust mechanisms) were abated by the internet, open licensing models, and reputation mechanisms. </div><div><br></div><div>I wish there were fewer licenses too. My point is to highlight that you can see these different motivators play out as new licenses are proposed. Looking from afar, they blur into one. Looking close, we are sensitive to their unique message.
