can use whatever license you want, with or without lawyer input. However, the
Open Source Foundation has a list of requirements which a license must meet for
it to be used with their trademarks and their associated websites (like
Sourceforge.) If you want to do those things, then yes, it has to be approved
by the OSF. As a holder of the dubious honor of having had a license rejected
while being told that it was a good license and people who wanted a license
like that could do worse than to use it, I assure you that they take these
requirements very seriously. Even a well-written license (mine was a
modification of a previously approved OS license with the modifications made by
a very experienced IP lawyer) is not going to get anywhere if it doesn’t
meet them, period.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
