<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>So,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>The SUN Microsystems and OMG are working together
in new specifications regarding datawarehouse. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>On the OMG´s side (<A
href="http://www.omg.org">www.omg.org</A>), they are working on CWM (Common
Warehouse Model). This is a specification regarding DataTransforming. And I
don't know if the actual spec has something about OLAP (Cubes).</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>On the SUN´s side, they are working in some
developements, DataMining, OLAP, MetaData, and they will use the spec of OMG
(CWM), as you can see on their website (<A
href="http://java.sun.com/aboutJava/communityprocess/jsr/jsr_069_jolap.html">http://java.sun.com/aboutJava/communityprocess/jsr/jsr_069_jolap.html</A>)</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I am part of this Expert Group (JOLAP). On the
JOLAP, all informations are confidentials, but I have some other (good)
knowlodge about OLAP. And I have worked with JOLAP about 7 years (at this time
the OLAP name doesn't exist).</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>My point of view of OLAP is to be free about the
implementation of the server. We should be able to construct a front-end and use
that with any OLAP Cube Server. And I believe that is necessary a OLAP Cube
Server. My CubeServer is a MetaModel based on relational tables (not ROLAP). We
have built a MOLAP over Relational. It´s like a binary Data-Structure serialized
in Relational Tables. This infra-structure enable us to use any relational
database as a OLAP Server. It´s sound good, because the users doesn't have to
understand a new kind of server, and help the entrance on a new
Customer.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>So, that's was my job. Now, I'm working on a new
OLAP Server and a OLAP client based on Java and HTML. I will have a version done
on three months (very simple version, but this version will help my current
customer). I believe that with a short investment of time, we can do a good OLAP
Product.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Dear All,</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I´m already in a project, which I will be able
to run DataWarehouse on any platform. The only decision that we will need is
to open the code sharing that, and improving the product.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Believe-me, the idea about this data-warehouse
is a good idea. We will have a code based on OLAP Providers, which we will
be able to open any cube on the server. I have used a lot of plugin points
(in Java), to be independent from the DataWarehouse OLAP
Provider.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I have a lot of knowlodge about OLAP, but I´m
so far from you area (I´m on Brazil), and a face to face meeting should not
work to myself.</FONT></DIV>
