Use of LGPL images in proprietary software?

Having a LGPL image raises the question of what the source code is for an
image. In particular, consider a lossy format like jpeg, or an image that is
provided as a bitmap but which was edited in a proprietary format that's not
provided, or created using a 3D modelling tool, etc. The preferred form for
modification may not necessarily be the image itself, leading to a situation
where you can't use the image because you don't have the 3D model data.
