What makes this worse is that GPLv3 clearly straightened this out, with its
6b clause that permits aftermarket distribution of sources either on a
durable physical medium at cost or by copying from a network server gratis.
Whatever the story with v2 (where the wording can be interpreted
variously) this at least should be fixed.

I'll try pushing back myself.
