>I sure I'm not done yet: comments, problems, suggestions?
There is one big problem, Richard Stallman made me aware of: The
compatibility between licenses. I wanted to add just one article to
the GPL, which was already covered by the previous one, but he said,
that it would be incompatible to the GPL, so I decided to give it up,
and to use the GPL, and print the addition as a comment on my
products.
>I am especially interested in suggestions that would make it simpler.
Well, licenses are not simple.
I have another idea. It is to make a license generator and a license
code. Do you know the geekcode? (www.geekcode.com). I think it might
be possible, to work out the differences of the current licenses, and
create the License code:
D Derived works must be licensed under the same license
O License is open-source compatible
C License is commercial
N There must be notifications about the author
...
GPL: D+ O+ C- N-
LGPL: D- O+ C~ N-
...
But I would say that the upper lines for the licenses are simple.
D+ O+ C- N- says it all, doesn´t it? That´s what I call simple.
Not this 5 pages stuff.
The definition above is just an example, to show how it works. Could
someone please recreate it, and complete it?
Many greetings,
