<html><body><span style="font-family:Verdana; color:#000000; font-size:10pt;"><div>Sadly just because its open source does not mean you can reuse it - or even get it to work.<br></div><div><br></div><div>A better idea would be to have them identify what makes sense to be open source - and then follow some guidelines in terms of publishing that to a public repository and ensuring people can download and actually use it.</div><div><br></div><div>At least they are finding out what does not work! And does it really help that the White House CTO is an ex-Google-ite?</div><div><br></div><div>The White House last attempt at open source for open data was almost laughable if it were not sad. They picked tools that were actually dangerous - opening up SQL systems to hacking.
